Jeff--
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments regarding the loss of my sister. I've since privatized my article as having it public just made me feel too vulnerable...but I wanted to express my sincere appreciation for the time you took to leave such a thoughtful comment.

Hi Jeff,
Thank you for the compliment about my work! I am honored that you and Sheila like it!
As for a camera...you should first decide if you want a point and shoot camera or one with interchangeable lenses. If you do go for one with interchangeable lenses, make sure that it is the one you want, because once you begin buying lenses, you are stuck with that camera. I like Nikon because their optics are really good, but Canon has some nice cameras. I don't own a Canon, but I like the color results in their digital cameras. I was not impressed with the Nikon D100 that I bought. Many people like them and like the results that they get, but I didn't. Since I had so many Nikon lenses, I couldn't afford to switch to Canon, but I found the Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro Digital Camera, that has a Nikon 100 body with a Fuji color chip. I really like it!
I've purchased most of my Cameras from a company called Calumet Photographic. (online). Their web address is:
http://www.calumetphoto.com/
They have a full range of prices on their cameras!
I would try to narrow it down to a particular brand first. Then decide point & shoot or DSLR.
Check out Calumet, and let me know what you think. The prices really vary, depending how much you want to spend.
(The medium format digital camera that I really want cost the same as my Ford Expedition that I bought in 2001! I can dream, but it ain't gonna happen).
I hope that this helped. Let me know if you have any more questions! Good Luck!
